Today we unspeak what is forbidden
You leaving the bed without a kiss
or some acknowledgement of what folds beside you
no word, no touch—as though
we are only shadows passing through this room.
these quiet violations of my rights and wrongs
I am not the sheets and blanket that will easily be discarded
possibly unlaid until you need them again
At the first inkling of the morning- when you decide morning is
Pay homage to the warmth beside you
let the generous span of your hands pass over me
awaken the goosebumps waiting like unspoken promises
reframe your body to cradle mine
every strand of hair gently teased
and finished off with the gift of a forehead kiss
sealed by the sound of my contended sigh
only then can you chase whatever the day sets before you.
This was a fun prompt! I did not see that coming. LOL!
