We start with laughter
allow the song of morning travel
in our bones.
Allow its music to sit in our marrow
because somewhere in our chest,
a flame is fanning across the darkness.
And we have been here before
where the sadness breathes
So we quietly sipped our own tears
in service to the ache,
But a flame is fanning across,
It will split us from ear to ear
The roar of our laughter
beating against eardrums
announcing the joy like a thousand hallelujahs stuck in our throats-
Do you hear it?
It sounds like we swallowed an avalanche and set it free.
Like we danced in the aftershocks of an earthquake
knowing what it feels like to tremble
from worry to wonder,
to hide hope in our fingernails and let them grow,
And if ever we forget how to lean into a smile,
We will start with laughter.
